A part of my role on the UX/UI Team consists of iconography and user interface art. In the August Tech Preview of Halo Infinite, much of the negative feedback surrounded the multiplayer medal's flat design, and small size within the HUD. The original, flat designs were done by an agency, and I was tasked to update and implement 150+ medals in a short period of time.

I put together this image below for sharing on social media, which shows the before and after transformation. They echo the metal backers used in Halo Reach, without appearing overly textured, and use that updated quality to relay a better sense of tiers, along with specific color palettes. While Halo Reach, a source of inspiration, used many different shapes across different (and same) categories, the number of backer shapes were condensed to one per category. This helps the player quickly learn and read at a glance what type of metal they achieved. I also modified some of the inner symbol metaphors for a more interesting read, along with cleaning up their shapes to avoid aliasing.

More will be shown after the game's launch.
